# Specification

Tactical Software-Defined Radio for complex electromagnetic environments.

**TACSDR** is a **TAC****tical ****S****oftware-****D****efined ****R****adio** built for the modern tactical mission. Its software-defined architecture makes it the world’s first and only handheld used for communication, signal intelligence and spatial sensing purposes.

This specification is focused on TACSDR's communications capabilities
{% endhint %}

TACSDR delivers voice, video, and high-speed data in a compact, highly portable handheld platform. Using a Linux-processor and [AllSeeing's software-defined radio architecture](https://www.allseeingtech.ca/), it supports ad-hoc, self-forming, and adaptive networking for dismounted users on the move. Its software-driven design allows the system to be upgraded and reconfigured as mission requirements, waveforms, and communication needs evolve.
